Pastor Scott Wilson

Scott Wilson has been our Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries at Lena Evangelical Free Church since 2006.  Small town life is nothing new to Scott, as he was born and raised in a rural community south of Moline, Illinois.  Scott attended church regularly while growing up, but did not know what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.  However, this changed in 1992 when Scott heard and responded to the gospel at a local Evangelical Free church.   

At the age of 19, Scott recommitted his life to Jesus Christ and began passionately pursuing a deeper relationship with God.  He looks fondly upon this time of his life, as it was an incredible time of spiritual growth.  Scott recalls, “Throughout my teen years I had settled for a comfortable brand of Christianity.  I didn’t want to live out my faith in all areas of life for fear of what people might think, say, or do.  While I sincerely believe I became a Christian at the age of ten, it took me nine years to really grasp what it means to follow Jesus Christ as Lord.”

Following Christ as Lord turned out to be quite a journey.  “During this time I noticed God giving me a passion to make Him known in the college classroom, as well as a desire to serve in the church.  Gradually my desire to become an engineer waned, and I began to sense God turning my heart towards full-time ministry.”  The following semester Scott transferred to Trinity International University where he received a Bachelors degree in Christian Ministries with an emphasis in Pastoral Studies.  Scott then went on to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School were he received a Masters Degree in Religion. 

Scott’s greatest joy in youth ministry is to preach the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ and to watch God transform the lives of teenagers. 

He and his wife Heather married in 2006 and have a dog named Hunter.  Scott enjoys fishing, camping, weight lifting, reading, paint balling, and the Chicago Cubs
